My iPhone is an 8plus and won’t let me sign in to my Apple ID

I have even tried resetting to a new password several times but it just refuses - why is this? Is it because I am not allowed to use an 8plus and need to buy a new iPhone if I’m going to be permitted back in? Why does this not happen with my new devices and only ever my older ones? Last time this happened I did upgrade my ( other) phone but I can’t afford to at the moment. Please can someone help?

If you are the owner or the owner has shared all information with you then to open Activation Lock:- If it is Activation locked, read here --> Turn off Activation Lock - Apple Support Activation Lock for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

Learn how to remove a device from a previous owner's account.

If you are not the owner and do not have the Apple ID and Password then there is no way that you can get into this iPhone unless the original owner shares the Apple ID and password with you. If you are lucky you can get into this iPhone if they (owner) accidentally remove the device from their Apple ID.

Resetting the password doesn't help- however I made some other changes in the background - cleared caches, deleted some apps and made privacy settings tighter. I switched off siri in all apps ( I dk why but there is not a universal button for siri in addition to going through every single app individually which is obviously a bit unnecessary and very time consuming). I restarted the phone and now I can sign in again.
