QuickTime Player screen capture has no stop button

I have Monterey 12.3 I have used QuickTime player for years to capture screen activity videos. Since the last update it will start recording but there is no way to get it to stop without a force quit.

Anyone know about this?

after you've started a recording, all you need to do to stop the recording is click on the ":stop" button that appears on your menubar once you have launched the recording.
