If Touch ID isn't working on your Mac - Apple Support

Touch bar issues reference:

Intel Mac—Try resetting the SMC How to reset the SMC of your Mac - Apple Support

Try resetting NVRAM/PRAM Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac - Apple Support

(get at least two-three rounds of the chimes when holding the NRAM Reset)

M1 Mac—No SMC or NVRAM on the M1 SoC.

The best you can do if you have an issue— equivalent Shut down, close the lid 30 secs+ , reboot as normal.

If no resolve try SafeBoot How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support to sort anomalies.

If the no progress, the issue persist typically indicates a hardware problem...

-------

Add a New Finger ID:

Add a Fingerprint - Then, delete the current one giving you the issue. Then, add a new one with the proper configurations. Where to go and what to perform.

  1. Go Here: Use Touch ID on Mac - Apple Support
  2. Add A Finger Print: Set up Touch ID
  3. Delete Current One: Rename or delete fingerprints
