In reference to the previous question. Is there an option to play one song only in iTunes. This would be as a setting or preference.

Doughty,
Uncheck all the songs in the library, or at least in the playlist you are using. Since iTunes will not automatically advance to an unchecked song, this means it will play the song you select and then stop.
If you don't see the checkboxes, go to Music Preferences > General tab, and check "Show songs list checkboxes."
