Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

M1 activation problem

I've a friend who brought a new M1 MacBook pro back in December, he suffers with mild Parkinson's and has had issues setting up the mac, gets forgetful and doesn't always record his passwords.


He added a new apple ID and subsequently has forgotten password associated with it.

We've tried forgotten password, authentication from on of his other mac's, but these have his original apple ID associated with them not the new one.


The prompt stipulates that the new apple ID has not been activated.


When using two factor authentication on his mobile the code comes through and is inputted in the mac but it doesn't allow us to continue.


He's given me the mac to sort out but it's not as simple as it was on the older PowerPc/intel macs where you could wipe everything with a boot drive.


I've attempted the recovery boot again but the odd thing is it does not show a hard drive present, I only get the options cog symbol, and I cannot boot from an external drive.


Does anyone have suggestions on how this M1 mac can be recovered or activated?
