Finder Favorites Disappear

Same problem, very annoying.

I have project folders that I need to access very often that I put in my Finder's favorites sidebar.

After a few days, they just disappear and I have to reinstall the 12/15 shortcuts I need on a daily basis...

Same issue here. I had assumed maybe it happens when the google drive is ejected but one would think the placeholders would remain in the sidebar and just spit an error like "folder location not found" instead of completely clearing them. Can we address this? It's highly frustrating.

Unrelated to Google Drive, within the last two weeks folders in my sidebar Favorites list have simply begun disappearing. I have not updated OS (using 12.6) or made other changes that would account for this new problem.

I have this exact same issue and it has been happening for quite some time. Every 3 or 4 months, all my sidebar folders will disappear (and no, they are not just hidden). It actually seems to be happening more frequently now with Ventura. I don't use Google Drive, it happens with Mac OS file system folders.

In my case almost all links disappear, such as Desktop, Downloads, etc. So it's not just limited to google drive. The OneDrive links also vanish - although one is persistent - so I don't get that at all. And it doesn't require a restart - this simply happened between yesterday evening and this morning.

I've started having the same problem. The shortcut folders from Google Drive are now empty files with a slash bar. It started 2 days ago only, been working with Google drive without a problem for a year..

This happens to me and my wife too. Sadly the cause of this is one of those problems that neither Apple nor Google see as their responsibility to fix, so it's safe to assume this will continue to happen.

I tried to write an AppleScript to repopulate the sidebar, but it appears that Apple has deprecated the commands necessary to do this because some 3rd party programs were adding items to the sidebar. Is there any way anyone knows to restate the sidebar with an AppleScript?

Still experiencing this issue. I thought mirroring files fixed it for me, but the problem resurfaced a few months ago.

That being said, I have noticed in a recent (GDrive) update that finder appears to be visualizing folders differently. It also asked me for permission to files recently in a way that looked promising.

Has anyone else noticed this? I will continue to test and see if there is any improvements.

This has been ongoing for ages. And I have the impression it's getting worse. Combined with the disappearing of the shortcuts (I have to add them every 2/3 weeks) the syncing of files gets stuffed up. Please fix this.

Safe mode is not much of a help, because this problem does not occur frequently enough. I would probably need to run in safe mode for a month or two before it would happen. And if it didn't happen it would be hard to know whether that was because I was in safe mode or I just had not waited long enough. And clearly running in safe mode is not practical for long periods.

I upgraded to a new MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2023, Apple M2 Max) running Ventura 13.2.1. I do not have Google Drive; I use Dropbox. And every couple weeks or so I lose 15-20 favorites in my finder sidebar. They are all Dropbox folders, but another 10 Dropbox folders remain, so it doesn't seem to be an issue with Dropbox. And if I recall correctly, it's random as to what gets deleted and what remains.

I don't have google docs or drop box and it's been happening to me since I got my M1 Max three months ago. Random folders just disappear. I have to restore everything. Really sucks working in a corporate environment and having many favorites that you rely on. I have to re-select desktop from the finder settings on the regular. Why are we seeing such an insane glitch?

This is driving me crazy! Please investigate and fix ASAP.
