tt2, This is not my experience. In my experience with Music on my last iMac and on this newer one, as I stated above, when the iPod was connected, it did always show up near the top of the left column. And then, when I clicked on it, in Music, the main display (toward the right of the left column) switched to the contents of the iPod. When that happened, a "sync settings" button icon would appear in the upper right of the display. This happened every time! Until yesterday...
When I clicked on the "sync settings" button icon, then a Finder window would open. This would have several options including selecting which songs, artists and playlists I want to sync onto my iPod. On the bottom right of this window, was a "sync" button, unless I had changed what I wanted to sync and then it would turn into an "apply" button, which, when clicked, returned to the sync button.
Now, the iPod screen says "connected," but it does not show up in the left column of Music. It does appear on the desktop and, when I open a new Finder window, the iPod appears in the left column. When I click on it, I only see the folders within the iPod: Calenders, Contacts, Notes & Recording. There is no obvious way to sync the iPod with the Music program which has new, downloaded stuff I want to listen to.
Thanks for actually reading what I have written and responding.
Warmly,
John
