M1 Macbook Pro won't boot from usb installer

hi everyone,

i was browsing apple community forums for the past week and couldn't find anything similar what i have here. so here is my problem.

I have a M1 Macbook Pro won't work properly. i downloaded and created mojave, catalina, big sur and monterey installer usb sticks with most up to date versions as of last night.

-managed to boot from high sierra usb, first stage of installation finishes but laptop freezes after restart on apple logo with non progressing progress bar with a very tiny progress.

-again managed to boot from mojave installer and this time installer goes fine until very last moment of finish installing it into macbook but laptop freezes and never completes the installation. no touchpad clicking and no caps lock at this moment.

-it detects catalina, big sur or monterey usb sticks and start loading the installer but installer won't boot fully and instead it restarts the laptop just before showing the options.

-does the same restart loop if internet recovery triggered.

-does the same restart loop again if factory shipped os recovery triggered.

-won't boot into ubuntu installer too. detects and starts loading the installer but again freezes just before fully boot into it.

-starts heating badly after freeze occur.

i disconnected the webcam (the metal connector under the right long metal shield) and touchbar but no changes to problem.

any recommendations are welcome

Specifically regarding the Mojave and Catalina USB installers...the late 2020 M1 models came pre-installed with Big Sur. You cannot install an OS older than that. If your M1 came pre-installed with Monterey, you cannot install anything older than that.

I can't comment on the issues with the Big Sur (if it applies in your case depending on what came on the MacBook) nor Monterey installers.

Why would you need to disconnect the webcam and Touch Bar hardware to do what you're trying to do?

thanks for the reply.

i read elsewhere on the internet that disconecting those hardware may make a difference if they have faults. this was just to sake of troubleshooting.

by the way what you sound like my laptop is not an M1 as i now trying the high sierra again. This could be really interesting if my laptop not is an M1 like i was thinking it was for the past 2 years.

this discussion is going to be a big mess on my side i think :)

anyway the high sierra somehow decided finish installing but it greets with an error message (like kernel panic, but i am not sure as i pressed a. button to skip it) after the final restart and installer started installing the high sierra again.

really puzzling

You need to correctly identify your MacBook Pro

M1 Macs were released in late 2020

See: Find the model and serial number of your Mac - Apple Support

In "About This Mac". look at the identified processor:

If it states "M1" you have an M1

If it states "Intel", you have an Intel-based Mac and NOT an M1 Mac

If you have not done so, see the page here for correctly creating a bootable macOS installer:
