Deleted folder on my MacBook Pro keeps reappearing

I'm running macOS Catalina version 10.15.7 and I found a folder under /private/var/folders/ by the title "_q" which has a subfolder that continuously and automatically fills up with screenshots of my lock screen and when I move the "_q" folder to the trash bin, it immediately reappears back in /private/var/folders/.

Why bother with this folder(?) and is this creating some associated issue...?

You can try a safeboot to clear cache file—

SafeBoot How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support

Takes a bit longer to get to the login screen, does a quick disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, including dynamic loader cache, etc.

Login and test. Reboot as normal and test.

This is what I see in Monterey, I never really had a reason to poke around here.

Thank you for the response. My reason for trying to delete this folder is that as it continues to create screenshot png files of the same image, it eventually takes up 80+ GB of storage.

Shift Command 5 opens to the Options setting for screen shots—

try making some changes to compare your results, then come back to your preferred settings..
