Apple Pay through Wallet app scam?

i opened Wallet to pay in a shop and this message came up, with the Apple logo, saying my account was suspended and I needed to re enter my card details. There was a link to a website, again with the logo. Dodgy. What is this about?

If it’s a scam this is the closest I’ve ever been to falling in.

I deleted my card, I don’t think I’m going to use Apple Pay ever again. anyone out there had the same experience?

Apple may sometimes restrict the Apple Cash account. But to my knowledge never suspends Apple Pay for any reason so that seems odd.

If you saw the Apple Cash is restricted message, then it's real. Nobody can just send random messages though the wallet App but Apple. See here of that is the message you saw: link-> If your Apple Cash account is restricted or locked - Apple Support

Otherwise you need to tell us exactly what you saw and how it was presented. Apple Pay is extremely safe, so it s hard to imagine a scam through the Wallet app. There's just no way for any 3rd party to access the app to send system messages like that.
