Ipod Shuffle 4th Gen problems

iPod Shuffle 4th Gen is misbehaving. Never did any of this in the past:

• Shuffling tracks even though Shuffle is off. Not good with classical music!
• Randomly repeating tracks even though Repeat is off.
• Tracks don't always start at the beginning. Previous track ends and there may be a few sec of silence and next track starts playing a few seconds into the music. Pressing button to go back, restarts the track at the very beginning.

Decided to do a Reset and start over. Uninstalled/reinstalled iTunes on Win 10 (21H2) PC. All iTunes diagnostics passed after the reinstall.

Successfully reset the iPod and created new playlist with tracks in the exact order I want them played. Did an auto-add and everything got copied over to the iPod, but it's still shuffling tracks. It's only ~2/3 full so space isn't an issue.

Don't know -yet- if it's still repeating or not starting every track at the beginning. Problem to solve first is the shuffling.

What am I doing wrong?
