Find an email that disappeared

Software: Mail App

Issue: Email in SPAM. Clicked on Move To Inbox. Email disappeared from Mail App. Unable to recover.

Have regular TimeMachine backup just prior to Issue.

Phantom GMAIL Drafts in MacMail Each morning lately I open Mail to find draft emails that I did not create. I do not use GMAIL to sent messages, these are not drafts that I created. Sometimes they show up in the Drafts folder, today they weren't in the drafts folder but just open and I found them accidentally when I clicked on Windows in the tab bar. There is no content, no message but clearly it is "from" my gmail account. The first time it happened, I changed my password and looked for other suggestions about saving the draft on the server etc which I could not find but I think the point is I didn't initiate these drafts. I can delete them of course but got spooked that someone had control of my email. But then why only GMAIL?

Email from Apple will not delete from Apple Mail - is it malware? I received an email from Apple on July 29th 2019, after downloading Catalina, with "Introducing... 0%" in object description. Since receiving this email (sent to my iCloud email) I noticed my Apple Mail Smartmailbox created for Apple Invoices kept increasing continuously (100s+ per minute). Like the next morning it showed I had more than 7000 emails in this folder, but they were "fantom" email because they did not appear. I sent an email to Apple, reporting possible scam of phishing email but have received no response. Since last mini update for Catalina, I don't see these emails anymore, except when I want to delete something (6-7 emails, for example), pop up window asks me if I'm sure I want to delete these 300s emails... I have just know tried again to delete the "Apple Introducing 0%" email and noticed that although the message at bottom left of screen says Deleting... it was followed by receiving... 100s emails. I quickly closed Apple Mail. I have searched online to any other persons having problems with this but to no avail. Is this a malware? I ran disk utility but no change. Do I have another choice than scraping my OS and re-installing. (Of course, my last backup was too long ago...) Marie

Emails missing from Trash mailbox in Mail I went to my Trash mailbox in Mail (for the first time since upgrading to Big Sur) to look for an email I’d recently deleted. Not only was it not there, but there were suspiciously few messages there—a fraction of the amount that should be. So I searched all mailboxes for the missing email, and it appeared in the search results. I opened it and looked at the top to see what mailbox it was in: Trash. So why doesn’t it show up when I go to Trash? One clue: The missing email says it’s in “Trash - Silverjacket” (my email domain is silverjacket.com), but the emails that appear in Trash say “Trash - On My Mac”. What’s the difference? Why are there now two? And where is “Trash - Silverjacket”? (In case it matters, I use POP.) Thanks.

Doubt you will find it using TM as it does not support email as before and looking for it in the library/mail/V9 directory is difficult at best.
