How to reset password when "If you change the password for this user account, you will create a new keychain to store the user's passwords."
In a bit of an awkward situation here. Basically, I'd like to log into my 2014 MacBook Air (she's turning eight this year!), but I've completely and hopelessly forgotten the password.
I've attempted to reset my password using my Apple ID credentials, but after I press the 'Reset Password' button, a dialogue box appears. In bold, it reads: "If you change the password for this user account, you will create a new keychain to store the user's passwords." Beneath the bold text, it further reads: "The user's previous keychain still exists. If you find the previous password, you can access the previous keychain and the information and password it contains."
After this point, I can either press the 'Cancel' or 'OK' button, both of which take me back to the select admin user screen.. and I'm stuck in a never-ending loop of trying to reset my password, getting the same dialogue box, being forced to select 'OK', and then getting returned to the select admin user screen.
I've also tried the macOS recovery option, but that's not working either :/
Send help pls :"(
