My watch will not connect via Bluetooth to my phone

So my Apple Watch hasn’t been connected to my iPhone for a while. I did the latest update on the watch and when I go to connect them via Bluetooth it says it is connected on my phone to the watch, but when I go to the Bluetooth part on my watch it continues to spin and says search for device. It will not pull up any device. What do I need to do to fix this?
