importing photos and their location

hello, I apologize if this sounds stupid but can someone clear this for me please? I just imported photos from my iPhone to my MacBook, can someone clarify to me if importing pictures to my MacBook is stored locally or stored on iCloud?

I wish to keep my photos on my MacBook and delete them from my iPhone, I am afraid that I will delete the pictures from my phone and then it will be deleted from my MacBook as well.

Hi

It depends on whether you are using iCloud to sync your libraries between phone and Mac. If you are, then you always have the same pictures on both devices.

If you are using only USB to transfer the images, then you are safe to delete them from your phone after transfer.

To check, look in preferences iCloud tab, here I have iCloud turned on - you would want it turned off.
