How to get dictation to type "period" instead of "."

Hello! When I'm using my computer's dictation feature and I want it to type out the word "period", it always just does the punctuation of "." instead. I've searched around and I can't seem to find any way to add/change commands for dictation. Any suggestions would be great, thanks!

You might need to use Voice Control, where you can add words to the vocabulary: Commands for dictating text on Mac – Apple Support (AU)

You can do it, depending on the intonation.

For example, if pause, as in "My name is Bond, period" it will write "My name is Bond."

But if you use the word in a normal intonation, it will indeed accept the word period.

The following phrase was dictated by me:

We are in a period of risk, but also of hope.

See there this word "period", and also "," and "."

It is just a matter of speaking normally, or making a deliberate pause.
