AppleTV 4K - “no network detected”
Recently we decided to upgrade one of our AppleTV units from AppleTV 4th gen to an AppleTV 4K 2nd gen. We primarily did it to get the new remote but we also plan to upgrade the TV to 4K in the coming months so it made sense to make use of some rewards points we had at a retailer.
However we are having issues that are very annoying/distracting while watching anything. Aside from changing out the AppleTV hardware nothing has changed with our configuration whatsoever yet this unit constantly pops up a message saying “No Network Detected” in the top right of the screen. The unit is connected via Ethernet, not wifi as was the previous unit. The previous unit was in use for 3-4 years and I had never once had this error before. We have another HD unit in the home that has also been in use that long and again never displayed this error.
Aside from the message popping up, sometimes as frequently as every 3 seconds the connection runs perfectly fine. There is no disruption at all to any streaming content, no buffering, etc or anything to indicate there is ACTUALLY a problem with the connection. We have a 1000Mbps service and speed tests run on wired and wireless devices constantly exceed 500Mbps down and 20Mbps up.
So far I have attempted manually setting DNS to Cloudflare, Google as well as setting the AppleTV 4K as a DMZ device at my router. None of this has fixed anything and these are the only solutions I have been seeing listed online.
I’m at my wits end as it is very annoying to watch something with this message popping up non stop. What can I do? I thought we were upgrading units but so far it feels like a massive downgrade and I’m outside of my return window.
At this point I’d be content to even just suppress the message if possible as there is no indication as to an actual problem.
Any help would be incredibly appreciated.
