Does anyone know how to download and keep originals of photos and videos from iCloud onto iPhone SE -- there is not an option on this phone to do this like it says on the support page. Thank you

If iCloud Photos is not turned on, then there are not orignal photos to download. Whatever is on your iPhone is the orignal file already. So the option to “download orignals” will not bethere because it would make no sense.
If you are using iCloud Photos on another device and as such there are photos stored in iCloud that you want to download, then turn on the iCloud Photos option. Then the download orignals button should show up.
If you are trying to download photos from your iCloud, then they should already be on your iPhone. If the photos are not already on your iPhone then make sure iCloud photos are turned on.

I see what you mean, I do not know how to help you any further but I would recomend you get the 50gb plan for $0.99 a month I do think it is a good deal.

Thank you -- so an email from iCloud says I have a version of the photos my phone, but not the original full resolution photos. I am including part of this email below -- I got it because I disabled photo backup to iCloud because I only have 5gb storage and don't want to have to buy more. The email says:

iCloud Photos has been disabled on all your devices and new photos and videos are no longer uploading to iCloud. There are currently 602 photos and 25 videos in your iCloud Photos.
Original format, full resolution versions of your photos and videos are not stored on your devices. You must download your full resolution photos and videos to at least one device before they are deleted from iCloud Photos in 30 days.
To download your photos and videos to an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch with iOS 8 or later:
1.Connect to a power source and Wi-Fi.
2.Go to settings, tap on your account, tap iCloud, and then select Photos.
3.Tap Download and Keep Originals. <--- HOWEVER THERE ACTUALLY IS NO OPTION TO DO THIS ON MY 2022 IPHONE SE. That's why I wrote in here, to see if anyone knows the real directions.
