How to remove "extra" bluetooth icon from menu bar?

I have a bluetooth icon stuck in, or rather on/over, my menu bar. I have tried disabling, and even enabling then disabling the bluetooth menu bar icon but this icon stays there no matter what.

I have searched but am not aware of any other software installed on my Mac that would create this "rogue" menu bar icon.

I able able to click and drag it but all it does is add the "normal" bluetooth menu bar icon to the location i drag it to.

Any ideas?

MacBook Pro (2020 and later)

Try reducing the number of items on the menu bar use the Command key to drag off the flotsam and Jetsam if it is not mission critical to your work flow....

You can use the safeboot to clear system cache  How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support

login to test, reboot as normal to test.

On the fly you can relaunch the menubar from the Terminal.app copy and paste:

killall -KILL SystemUIServer

if no resolve:

—Test issue in another user (or guest user) account Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac - Apple Support

This will tell you if it a universal issue or isolated to your user/admin account.

Uninstall all third party apps that are Cleaners/Optimizers/VPN/Anti-Virus

all known to cause issues on the macOS
