What I mean was, voice memos is taking 28gig of my iPhone storage and after checking it shows documents and data takes that space but unfortunately I have only two voice memo files amounting to 186MB.

How can I get rid of the 28gig documents and data?

Hello Addoquaye_pappoe,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand that you need to delete Voice Memos on your iPhone. To do so, take the following steps:

• In the list of recordings, tap the recording you want to delete, then tap the trash can.
• Tap Edit above the list of recordings, select one or more recordings, then tap Delete.
Deleted recordings move to the Recently Deleted folder, where they’re kept for 30 days by default. To change how long deleted recordings are kept, go to Settings  > Voice Memos > Clear Deleted, then select an option.

You’re right. I was doing just the same and did not work for me either.

And even I am frustrated as ****. I’m still using an iPhone 7 (32gb) which miraculously still works.. u can almost imagine how I must be feeling..

Here’s what worked for me though. After reset network settings since it did not work, I completely deleted the app from storage.

later reinstalled from App Store and it worked . The app is completely empty now.

since I didn’t care for any recordings lost I do not care but if you do. Download those recordings via iTunes in your PC.

delete and later reinstall the app and later if required resync those recordings.

hope this helps for you too.

Ok, so here goes...

The only solution I found mentioned(which myself have not tried yet but going to) somewhere was to Reset the "Network Settings". It will not delete any of your data but only network settings, password, privacy settings etc.

I'm currently working on the same and you guys can try the same as well. Its in Settings=> General=> Reset => Reset all settings.

Do not select erase all data and reset the iPhone and you should be fine.

Will also write about the result once I try. Just backing up some data just in case.

addoquaye_pappoe,

We appreciate those additional details. To confirm, are there any voice memos stored in the 'Recently Deleted' folder of the Voice Memos app? Also, is 'Voice Memos' toggled on under Settings > [your name] > iCloud?

Let's ensure you're running the latest version of iOS, 15.4.1, as well using these steps from Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch:

1. Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
2. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
3. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
4. If you see two software update options available, choose the one that you want to install.
The Settings app on iPhone showing options to update to iOS 14.8 or iOS 15.
5. Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now. If you don't know your passcode, learn what to do.

Cheers!
