Mac Mini Slow Internet RESOLVED!

I have a brand new 2020 Mac Mini, 16GB/1TB. My home has fiber internet and typically runs at 300mbps download and 300mbps upload. I run WIFI only, not hard wired to the Mac Mini. When testing with Speedtest.net the Mac Mini would be at 10 mbps download and my MacAir that is sitting next to it would run at 295mbps. I took it into the Apple Store to run diagnostics to be sure all was well with the Mac Mini and it checked out fine. Note the MacAir is a 2015 with only 4GB of ram. The only other difference was I had a USB Hub to accommodate all my peripherals. The moment I unplugged it my speed shot up equal to the MacAir. The hub i had was a Rosonway. I replaced it with an ANKER and now everything is working as it should! I was surprised that a USB hub would make that big a difference. Problem Solved!

Very well could be high speed USB drives, cables or other devices like the hub.

Look at your setup to make sure that there are no high speed USB device or cables near or in between the Mac Mini and router. In addition, keep in mind that the Mac Mini’s wireless antenna is built into the bottom cove, which can also cause a week signal on some surfaces. If those steps do not improve the Wi-Fi signal, you can also try standing the Mac Mini on it’s side with the bottom facing towards the router to see if that helps.
