Unable to email a pages doc in icon format????

I am having trouble emailing my pages documents in an icon format. I am right clicking and "saving as icon" yet my test emails to myself still show the body of my document? I searched online and spoke to an applecare advisor who told my mac version, Monterey 12.3.1 doesn't allow page doc's to be converted to icon formats for emailing. I have trouble believing this. Can anyone help? I have a business and it feels very unprofessional to send documents in a full body format. Many thanks!

Pages documents have never displayed the image of the first page when attached to an Apple Mail message. This goes back to the first version of Pages released in 2005. It's a limitation of Mail, not Pages, as Pages documents display the first page contents in Finder (as long as "show icon preview" is enabled in View Options). If it is essential for the image to show in your e-mail message, you will need to convert the document to an image format such as PDF. Even then, if it is a multi-page PDF document that image will not display. Perhaps a different e-mail program that can send messages in HTML would work. Apple Mail does not do HTML.

Here is a screenshot of the same document in Pages & PDF attached to a Mail message in Mojave, macOS 10.14.6.
