Cannot delete shared photo in my iPhone

Recently some shared photos popped up into my iPhone's photo section. They were never there before (they are old photos sent to me in iMessage years back). I deleted these files in the Photo app, but every day they are back. Delete. Back again the next day.

I do not have the icloud setting on for Photos, so not sure why they will not stay gone.

How can I permanently remove them from my phone?

Thanks!

Hey there, JWilcox79.

To start, can you confirm that you've removed the photos using the following steps?

"Delete from a Shared Album

  1. Open the shared album.
  2. Tap the photo or video.
  3. Tap the Trash button .
  4. Tap Delete Photo.

If you're the owner of a shared album, you can delete any photos, videos, or comments from anyone. Subscribers can delete anything that they personally added. Anything you delete is automatically deleted from the album on all your devices and the devices of subscribers.

Any photos that you saved or downloaded from a shared album to your Photos library stay in your library even if the shared album is deleted or the person who created it stops sharing it." How to share albums in Photos on your iPhone, iPad, and Mac

If so, make sure that your iPhone is up-to-date, as this can often help resolve unexpected behaviors.

Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Also, Restart your iPhone since this too can help resolve issues.

We hope this helps!

Sincerely.
