Intercom suddenly not working on any device

We have had intercom working across several rooms and devices and two accounts for around a year. We have two OG HomePods, a HomePod mini, my iPhone, and a few iPads all regularly using HomePod. Yesterday, it stopped working almost entirely. We get one of two error messages:


  1. "Home hasn't added support for that with Siri", (this happens on phone and HomePods), or and even more weirdly, if my phone is MUTED,
  2. "My voice is muted. Shall I read it anyway? Yes/No." There is no correct answer to this -- it doesn't work whether I choose yes or no.


The only way I have found it to work is if I hit the intercom icon inside the phone Home app. This is useless, really, because we mainly use it from the HomePods/with Siri.


Is there some server-side bug? Is it working for anyone else? Any ideas?


Restarting my phone did not help. Not surprising, since this issue is across devices.

I have had this issue for a week or two now, and it still hasn’t been resolved. I can intercom if I specify the room it is listed under in Home (Hey Siri, intercom the lounge) but I can’t do the whole house anymore, and it no longer intercoms to iPhones/watches/iPads like it used to. I can also no longer remotely use intercom with Siri like I used to be able to do when I was out of the home.


I really hope it’s fixed soon!
