imessage to aol mail

I send text messages to my aol email for reminders, data, etc. If iMessage is enabled in Messages, the text will not show up in mail.aol.com (not the desktop). If iMessage is disabled (which requires deleting the entire thread), the message will show up. As a guess, this became a problem when my iPhone 11 Pro upgraded to iOS 15.4.1 about a month ago.

I'd rather always have iMessage enabled.

Any suggestions?

I guess I didn't make myself clear:

If iMessage is enabled (in Messages) messages are not received at my aol mail account, and that is my apple i.d.

If iMessage is disabled, SMS and MMS arrive flawlessly. But that means disabling iMessage, deleting any existing thread, sending the new SMS or MMS, then re-enabling iMessage.

Interestingly, sending an email to the Message app works whether or not iMessage is enabled.
