I have a macbook pro m1 - and my sd card reader will not read/show the sd card in the reader unless it's at startup. I've checked my finder settings to make sure it's showing the sd card, none of my cards are corrupt, it's doing this on all SD cards. Is this a known issue? Is there any way to fix this? I just purchased this computer, so I thought it wouldn't just stop reading cards for a while.

Yep, they're problematic. Wiggle the card, reset it several time ... do both.
For these type reasons we abandoned cards many months ago and now use a pair of inexpensive 250GB portable SSDs. As long as the card was left in a camera, we seldom had problems so we do still do that. But all other uses have been discarded ... no problems with cards ever since.
And since way most of the "computer" cards we've ever bought failed, this is a fix to us and not a workaround.
