Update to Monterey notification on unsupported MacBook Hi folks, I currently have a mid 2014 17" MacBook Pro running macOS 11.4 Big Sur and I'm constantly receiving these notifications asking me to update to macOS Monterey, believe me, if I could I'd gladly update but my old MacBook is not in the compatibility list for Monterey and the notifications are pretty annoying and to be honest, this fells a lot like Microsoft style update begging on Windows, something I wouldn't expect from Apple. Dear Apple: Why does my 2013 MacBook Pro show notifications for (impossible) software upgrade to macOS Monterey? I have a very frustrating situation. My 2013 MacBook Pro retina repeatedly shows an "upgrade" notification for Monterey MacOS - which is impossible, because the limit for my machine is Big Sur. I'd have to ditch my computer and buy a new one to do the upgrade. Originally I considered this a harmless glitch but now many months later I still see it so it really irks. As my screenshots show it will even occasionally let you click through to the app store page for the OS upgrade. It's probably a bug related to other software downloads being made available but it's very annoying.

False Monterey upgrade notification Hi all. I have a late 2014 5K iMac, and have just received a pop-up notification from the App Store to upgrade to Monterey. Now I know my machine was not on the supported machine list when Monterey came out, but thought this meant it had been added after further testing... ...but when I click 'Get' on the App Store I am taken to the Software Update preference panel and then told "Update Not Found". Is this just a bug, or has Apple actually release Monterey for older Macs?

Hi,

Have you tried turning off System Preferences > Software Updates > Advanced > Check for updates?

Thanks, kaz-k, but no, I have not. I still want to receive notification of any update for Big Sur that might trickle in.

It just seems bizarre that update notifications would be triggered on a Mac that cannot update to what the notification calls out.
