Please help

I’ve recently managed after a long time, to back my photos up onto my computer…this was due to technical issues on my iPhone 11 Pro. Every time I tried copying my pictures Accross it would crash my computer and phone….(spoke to Apple support a few times but we never got to the bottom of it)

Anyway, stay with me please for the next bit. Many of my photos that I’ve copied have grey boxes all over them. Now when I initially copied them accross they looked fine, but looking at them this morning, many are corrupt. This would normally just be annoying if it was just silly photos, but the photos are of my beloved dog, who has a brain tumour.

I only discovered this issue after clearing all photos from my phone! Is there anything I can do please?

I know, please don’t preach at me about iCloud etc.

How did you copy the photos? There are several right ways, and one major wrong way. Here are the right ways→Copying personal photos and videos from iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your computer. The wrong way is to try to manually drag them from the DCIM folders on the phone to your computer. This will not transfer any edits made to images, can result in corrupt images and can corrupt the photo database on the phone.

Leave your computer plugged in and connected to Wi-Fi for several hours. iOS can sense some storage corruption and fix it in the background.

While you said you didn’t want to hear about iCloud, it is the easiest and fastest way to sync photos among multiple devices, and is real time. When you take a photo it will appear on your computer and other devices within minutes, or sometimes seconds.
