Cannot upload photos or videos to FB from Macbook OR ipad

I'm getting quite tired of neither of my expensive Apple devices being able to do the slightest, simplest thing. When I try to add images / videos to a FB post, I click 'add images' & my Macbook Air does nothing. Cannot access any folders. My iPad allows me to access some images to upload, but not the folders I actually want. It goes to something called 'camera roll' - but the video I want is in my iCloud & also in a folder within 'pictures'. WHY can't I access EITHER of these folders to post the video, and WHY can't I even move the video into this thing called 'camera roll' - as I cannot see where or what it is?

MASSIVELY frustrated and sick of having to post questions about things that are SO simple on Android & Windows.

I've clicked ipad below, but this is actually about both devices.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 12.3

Hello AliWonder,

Thanks for participating in the Apple Support Communities.

For assistance with allowing access to your photos on your Mac, check out the steps below and more information can be found via the resource. In addition, you may need to check if you have multiple Photo libraries to see if that's what is causing the issue you're experiencing.

Control access to your photos on Mac - Apple Support

Some apps and websites can use your photos to provide you with services and features. You can decide which apps are allowed to use your photos.

1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Security & Privacy , then click Privacy.

2. Select Photos.

3. Select the checkbox next to an app to allow it to access information from Photos. Deselect the checkbox to turn off access for that app.

If you turn off access for an app, you’re asked to turn it on again the next time that app tries to use your information.

As for your iPad, you would want to go to Settings > Privacy > Photos and check for Facebook to see if it has access to your Photo library. If you have access enabled here, you may need to work with Facebook Help to determine what could be causing the photos to not be shown to share. While this resource speaks of an iPhone, it still applies to your iPad if you'd like to check it out: Control access to information in apps on iPhone - Apple Support

We hope that's able to help.

Have a great day!
