I purchased a HP 2680 printer. Prior to purchasing I went on line to make sure that it would be compatible with my MacBook Pro. It said that it was. But alas I have not been able to install and use this printer. Any suggestions?

Hi,

At least according to the product specifications (https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-deskjet-2600-all-in-one-printer-series/12319824/document/c06418923#AbT7) under Mobile printing capability, the HP DeskJet 2680 All-in-One Printer supports AirPrint. The printer is not specifically listed in About AirPrint - Apple Support, though (other HP DeskJet 26xx models are).

An AirPrint-enabled model can be used without additional drivers under macOS, provided that the printer and the computer are connected to the same network (Wi-Fi router).

Use a Wi-Fi router (infrastructure mode), not a direct connection.

A manual Wi-Fi setup without special software should be possible. For example, Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS). See page 62 in the user guide (http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05439290.pdf).

Add a printer to your printer list so you can use it on Mac – Apple Support (UK)

Reset the printing system on your Mac to solve a problem – Apple Support (UK)

In case of difficulties with AirPrint, and if the setup is OK, one could try the following procedure:

Power off the Wi-Fi router, the printer, the MacBook Pro, and all other devices/computers. Wait two to three minutes. Power on the router. Wait two to three minutes. Power on the printer. Wait a minute or two. Power on the MacBook Pro. Finally, power on all other devices/computers.

Thanks for the advice. Installed the "HP Smart" app as recommended, followed instructions, but the app could not "find" my printer in its search. Tried MULTIPLE times to search for the printer but was not successful. Using a USB cable to connect computer to printer. Will turn off and disconnect all, wait for a while and retry again in a bit. Thanks for the information about the app. If I can't get it to work on the next try, will be back !
