Interestingly, if you enter in Finder the name (or part of) of a person whose name was used in an email address, or part of the email address, and let it display for the whole Mac (i.e ignore the name "contains" option) Spotlight will display all the attachments in Mail that were sent to or from that address. The date of those may help locate some emails (clunky I know!) but also suggests Spotlight is indexing OK, and the bug is likely in Mail.

Mail uses the spotlight database.

I would search from with in the Mail.app not the Finder....and compare your results.

This is utterly ridiculous. I need to search emails regularly, multiple times a day. Apple, fix this already, it's a real disservice to your users.

Mail search and message search have been broken for me since I upgraded to Monterey in 2021.

I have open ticket and all advanced support can tell me is keep current with software updates.

I would really like Apple to raise the priority of this issue to Critical because I am sick n tired of searching mail from my IPhone!!!!!
