Removing line breaks or hard returns in Pages

I received a double-spaced, 30-page PDF doc and converted it to Pages so I can work on it. I did this with Select-All, Copy, and Paste. All the formatting is lost, but it gets worse. Each line has a hard break at the end. I tried Find & Replace, but it does not recognize the "¶" symbol as a character. There has to be a way to remove them en masse rather than one line at a time. I have the latest version of iOS and Pages.
