Hi I am trying to use the Express Travel mode on my phone for payment in Singapore public transport system. However, it keeps asking me for authenticating via face-id even though I have the option of Express Travel Card activated. Where am I going wrong? Any pointers would be highly appreciated. Thanks.

Have you been able to use Express Mode successfully at any transit locations? If it's just the one location, you'll want to contact the transit authority to let them know.
If it's all locations, then we'd suggest trying these troubleshooting steps:

Well I am unable to use Express Travel at any transit locations.
i also followed your other suggestions but still no luck. Looks like the Express Travel mode feature is not available here 😔
