iPad battery drain

I have an iPad Pro 2, 9,7 inch. Something is sucking battery life out at a high rate. I can only be on for an hour and it's lost most of the battery. I have deleted all apps that I don't regularly use, however I did have a solitaire app that was always sending ads for other games and I deleted it. I have shut off my notifications. Do I need a new battery and if so what does it usually cost for an Apple Store to put one in? Thanks. Sherman

You can make an appointment at the Apple Store. Genius Bar Reservation and Apple Support Options - Apple

They can check the battery for you remotely if you want to use the Get Support link at the top of the page so you can be sure that it is the battery. You might also want to look at your profile here since that is where I took the information that you may have been mistaken by your iPad. Sorry I was mistaken.

You sure that you have an iPad Pro second generation? There is no second generation 9.7" Your profile states an iPad 2, iOS 9. If you have an iPad 2 9.7" with iOS 9, that is at least a 10 year old device. My guess is the battery is failing, but replacing it is not cost effective. Apple does not replace the battery, they replace the entire device at $249/US. Given its lack of support for newer apps and software, I would recommend replacing the device. If cost is an issue, take a look at Apple's refurbished shop. Refurbished iPad Deals - Apple
