My new iphone 12 will not allow apps to open or allow me to shut down the phone. Nothing is working. Siri will not respond. The up then down volume followed by holding the start button won't work. I turned off and on airplane mode. I also swiped clean past app use.
What else can I try?

No worries. The problem is fixed. Not an easy fix though.
It required fast volume up....fast volume down then hold right button in.
It took several goes to get the timing right.
I like my iphone 7+ better. Never gave any trouble and still going strong.
