external optical drive is not detected by imac
my iMac does nod recognize external optical drive. Impossible to operate.

What optical drive?
What have you tried so far?
Try restarting the iMac.
Connect the drive to a different USB port.
Test a different CD or DVD in the optical drive.
Test the optical drive connected to a different Mac or PC.
