AppleWatch Series 4

Looking to customize workouts on my watch to track distance. The workouts I want to customize do not seem to be customizable. For example, I would like to track my distance walked during a Golf game but cannot change the items currently tracked to add this. I also cannot add a workout when one is already in process. I thought I could start my golf workout and then +new walk workout but when I try the +New is greyed out on my watch. I have updated to the latest OS 8.6 but wondering if my Series 4 will not allow this? Any help would be great thanks.

Thanks for the reply, I wanted to try this before I responded. Unfortunately, it does not work for me. I start my golf workout and then my out door walk workout after 1 min. and then my outdoor walk activity continually pauses due to inactivity. I have shut off all the auto pause functions on my phone but it continues to pause. If I dismiss the pause and continue it will only continue for a short period of time. Once I have finished and end all workouts my golf activity shows paused shortly after 1 min.? and has not resumed when I have dismissed the paused outdoor walk. I also cannot access the first activity activated - golf but only can pause, resume the second activity - outdoor walk. Not sure this will work for me? I may just need to use another app? Which is a shame. Thanks for your help!

Okay, an Apple rep helped me figured it out over chat. I'm not sure they've documented this process. Here's how it works.


Open workouts and start your workout, running, say.

You have to let that run for one full minute before the New+ button will allow you to select anoher workout type.

Select New+ then select the next workout you want to do, let's ride, cycling.

Let that go for one full minute then select New+, let's pick rowing.

Now you have three workouts going -- running, cycling, rowing.

To change from one workout to another, hit pause and select one of the the workouts you've already started.

To end them all, select End.

Then scroll down and tap on done.
