Album cover doesn't visible in car since latest iOS 15.5 upgrade via BT (All cars/devices are affected)

Hi There,

Since I've updated my iPhone 11 to IOS 15.5 (1 day before), my car doesn't visible the songs art cover via Bluetooth. I read that thousands users have the same issue with BMW, Audi, Mercedes, Volkswagen, Renault etc.... with the latest IOS version.

Before the IOS 15.5 upgrade the album covers were displayed over bluetooth right (Spotify or local music)

Via Apple CarPlay it's working, but my car supports Apple CarPlay only via cable (Renault Megane IV Grandcoupe), and I definetely want use the bluetooth for music as earlier.

I tried to reinstall Spotify and restart my phone, but the album cover shows only for the first song, after it it will dissappear.

Do you have any idea? There will be any IOS patch for this issue in the near future?

Hi Guys,

It seems the iOS 16 has resolved this issue for me. I tried today morning and every album cover were visible on car multimedia display via BT. (tried with Spotify)

I hope the next upgrade won't crash it again ...... :)

Hide or show album art

Open Settings in CarPlay using your vehicle’s built-in controls, then turn Show Album Art off or on.

Hello, I can confirm this issue since IOS 15.5.

with the normal Bluetooth connection in my BMW I had Covers. Since the update the cover don’t appear anymore. With the in Car Spotify App over USB everything is fine. But I prefer the Bluetooth connection. Seems like the new iOS update messed up some protocols?

Since yesterday album art via Spotify is back! Have tested many times. Turn off and turn on my car again during day. Changed play list, everything is working as before. No new updates were installed. iOS 15.5 still and Spotify.38 version. Server update?

Ps: I waited before posting this to be sure. Audi car by the way. Let me hear your experience.

I faced that when i listen spotify without album cover displayed and somebody calls me, after the call my car shows the album cover until the next track. It’s strange, I think there is a data transmission issue in ios since latest update.

After the long wait for the next iOS update, I'm still facing the same issue after updating to 15.6. Album art is still missing, playtime is mismatched sometimes.

I have already done all the possible workaround to fix this:

Update iOS
Reset iPhone network settings
Update Spotify to the latest version
Unpair and pair bluetooth connection

None worked like how it was before iOS 15.4.

Why are we going back with the updates, Apple?

Well I also have the same problem. If that helps all the music apps don't show album art after 15.5 update. For example BBC radio app and some local radio stations apps that used to show album art.

I already contacted the Spotify support too, but nothing… maybe you sould contact them as well. In think if they get more feedback, they will investigate the issue, maybe….

Spotify version 8.7.34 out now. Haven't tried yet in my car. If any does please let us know. Although like I said I think it's on Apple's side.

Yeah it’s gotta be Apple’s new IOS update that messed all of this up. I really hope this gets fixed because it’s a huge bug on my end, makes the car feel “off”.

Unfortunately I also got that after 15.5 update. I chatted with the Apple support about the issue. All that they said is wait for update of car audio…

Thanks for your reply. The app is working fine. The issue is only in car during bluetooth music playing. Some users reported that other music apps have the same issue (album cover is not displayed on car screen via BT). I only use Spotify.

It seems the issue is with IOS 15.5 update. I think something is wrong in the bluetooth data link / network layer from OS side, because before the 15.5 upgrade everything was ok for everybody.

Bluetooth forget/reconnect already tried without success.

Hello,

It’s not using carplay. This is a simple bluetooth connection! Via carplay (only with cable connection) the album cover is ok. My issue is with the simple BT connection as I already wrote.
