since I purchased my macBook air my name has changed in emails and I don't know how to fix it

Go to System. Preferences->Internet Accounts, iCloud selection and check it out if someone is messing with you!
Which email client? The problem might be on the website and not Mac mail itself.
Mail is basically a portal that allows local usage of a web client such as Yahoo, Google, Microsoft, Comcast and etc. Your misapplied name may be there.
So I did that couldn’t change anything there.. instead of using my name it is using one of my contacts … how do I change that?
I am cconfused that my MacBook Air is using a different name with my email address
