iOS 15.5 Update problem

After updating my iPad Pro to iOS 15.5, several of the apps are missing from the “Notification Style” portion of “Settings.” As a result, I am no longer receiving notifications on these apps, and have no way to set a notification for these apps. Can anyone offer a fix?

Also, the microphone in “Voice Memos” stopping recording. Any fixes for that?

Hey Cherrifree,

You'll want to make sure the apps that are having this issue are fully updated:

"How to manually update apps on your iPhone or iPad

  1. Open the App Store.
  2. Tap your profile icon at the top of the screen.
  3. Scroll to see pending updates and release notes. Tap Update next to an app to update only that app, or tap Update All."

Those steps are from this article: How to manually update apps on your Apple device - Apple Support

If you haven't already, you can also see if restarting your iPad Pro may help: Restart your iPad - Apple Support Restarting can seem like a simple step, but it can sometimes help resolve issues.

Let us know how those steps go or if you've already tried those steps.

Take care!

Hello Cherrifree,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities!

To learn even more about the issue, does this only happen with certain apps?

If so, which ones exactly? You were able to make sure those apps are fully updated?

If it happens with a third-party app, you might need to reach the developer next: How to contact an app developer - Apple Support

We hope this helps.

Cheers!

Reset the Home Screen Layout:

If widgets are not working as they should or have gone missing somehow, then you need to reset the Home Screen Layout...

Go Here: Move and Organize Apps on iPhone - Apple Support

You'd have to add back all the widgets that you can recall being back on there. So, write down what is currently on the Home Screen.

Scroll to: Reset the Home Screen and Apps to their Original Layout

  1. Go to: Settings
  2. Tap: General
  3. Tap: Reset
  4. Tap: Reset Home Screen Layout
  5. Then... Add the apps back

Hi justin_900. Thank you for replying. All of my apps are updated, and the majority of pre-installed Apple apps and other 3rd Party apps are missing from the “Notifications” section of “Settings.” They we’re all there and exhibiting notifications up until the iOS 15.5 update.

AND the microphone in Voice Memos has also stopped recording. My iPad is just a year old. I’m a very meticulous user of my devices, no rough handling whatsoever.

These are the apps that are now missing from the “Notifications” section.

I currently have version 15.5 on my IPhone 6S Plus, and I have found the App Store app update option has completely disappeared and is nowhere to be found as if they have completely removed it. So that means that I can no longer update apps manually? I mean come on, this is just the most ridiculous and dumbest decision they could have ever made.

I also have this exact mic problem after ipad os15.5, I’ve tested by recording a video with both front facing camera and back camera, and sound came out just fine, only when using voice memo, notability and maybe sending voice messages in instagram. It also happen after 15.5 update

I also found a quite strange temporary solution, if i connect to a discord call (haven’t try other apps), the voice memo and notability suddenly works again but only if i am in a discord call. So i create my own discord server just to be in a call and able to record voice memo. I really hope it’s just a software bug, not hardware and apple is coming up with a fix

I’m glad you found a way to use Voice Memos that works for you. But that seems like a lot of work to get something to do what it should do otherwise.

Have you reached out to Apple Care? Apple took me through several troubleshooting scenarios, reset to factory settings, and finally to the Best Buy Geek Squad. They determined that is was a hardware problem.

My phone just automatically updated to iOS 15.5 yesterday (6/24/22) and now the entire second page of apps is missing. I see them all in the “app library” screen all the way to the right, but what on earth happened?? I use many of those apps regularly, and all of a sudden an entire screen of apps is just gone or relocated without my approval. What gives Apple? I spent a while getting those all organized. How to I reset it / can I restore from a backup? Very disappointed about such a huge oversight in the update. I get that the idea may have been to move apps I don’t use often enough, but I’m capable of making that decision for myself thank you, also, what’s the criteria? I use my banking apps nearly daily and they were on that screen…?

Wow. Have you tried resetting your iPhone to factory settings? An Apple Care advisor had me do that last week to restore my lost apps in the notification setting.

Plug in your phone, and back it up in iCloud. Go to Settings, Click “General.” Scroll down to “Transfer or Reset iPhone,” click on that. Choose “Reset,” then choose “Reset All Settings.”

This will reset your apps that came installed. But you’ll probably have to re-download 3rd party apps.

Also, go into “General,” then “Software Update” and turn off automatic updates to avoid any more automatic updates.

I hope this helps.

I would turn automatic updates off. I usually don’t do an upgrade until I see what’s happening from other people that went ahead and did it. Apple has always sent out upgrades that don’t work right. There’s a lot of bugs in this from what I hear. I think I’ll stay at iOS 15 till they figure this out good luck I hope everything is sorted out for you
