They are the developer of Word. Ask them why you are getting the error. You may need to uninstall Office, and then reinstall it. Start Here:  Microsoft Contact Us Virtual Agent - Microsoft Support. Perform a chat session with Microsoft using a computer, as it would be more user-friendly doing so

XML Format and iOS15.5:

You're probably getting this because of the XML format for the file (docx), instead of doc. So, what app(s) are were you able to opening these in prior to this? Remove the app, and then reinstall it. Restore from a Backup:

Did you backup your iPhone prior to installing this update? If so, restore your iPhone to it. If not, then take this as a learning experience, knowing to always backup your iPhone prior to updating it. That way, you'll have something to restore your iPhone from, should anything go wrong after the installation.
