yellow exclamation point icon & updating events in Mac Calendar

I have 2 questions, maybe related. First is, what does the yellow exclamation point icon next to an invitee's name mean? Second, sometimes I make an event update and no one gets the update. How do I make sure they do? I don't want to email them, I just want the updated event pushed to their calendar. I think sometimes a pop-up asked if I want to do this when I made an update but sometimes it doesn't.

Hey b3n3,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. The yellow exclamation mark means "The invitee is not listed in the selected calendar server". To view additional information regarding Calendar symbols, click here: Symbols used in Calendar on Mac.

In regards to the event updates, you can refresh your Calendar to ensure others get the update. For details, check out this article: Refresh calendars on Mac.

Hope this helps. Take care.

Thanks for the response.

For the exclamation mark, I don't know what the implication of that statement is. It seems like something on the backend. Basically I want to know if I add invitee to a calendar event, do they get an email or calendar alert of some kind. I'm not sure if being "not listed in the selected calendar server" affects that goal or if it does how I'd fix that.

As for the update, the calendar was already set to "push" which indicates it updates after every event change. And this works for creating events. However, this doesn't always seem to happen for invitees. Just to be clear, I'm talking about invitees not getting updates for a specific event they're invited to - I'm not sharing an entire calendar with them.
