High Mac Temperatures

I have a Mac Book Pro 2019 18inch and for some reason with only the terminal and like one tab on safari open, my temperature for the CPU is at like 60 C. I see online that the idle temperature should be around 30 C, but clearly that isn't the case for my computer.

I would like to know what I can do to bring down my temperature.

Can someone help me out?

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 12.3

I don't think that temp is unreasonable— Those are idealized numbers in the tech specs with nothing running. I would not be concerned.

I just turned my machine on, looks normal.

Fan: 1822.68 rpm

CPU die temperature: 50.02 C

GPU die temperature: 35.00 C

If it was an issue for the Mac it would ramp your fans up...

Fans are always on, they idle at ~1200+RPM and under a load 6000 RPM

On your Intel Mac—Try resetting the SMC How to reset the SMC of your Mac - Apple Support

If you are concerned—

Keep your Mac notebook within acceptable operating temperatures

Keep your Mac notebook within acceptable operating temperatures - Apple Support

Uninstall all third party apps that are Cleaners/Optimizers/VPN/Anti-Virus

all known to cause issues on the macOS

To trouble shoot further you can:

—SafeBoot How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support

Takes a bit longer to get to the login screen, does a quick disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, including dynamic loader cache, etc.

Login and test. Reboot as normal and test. Caches get rebuilt automatically.

In Safe mode third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled, it removes malware, etc hampering smooth operation, however a reboot will put it back to normal mode.

This test will tell you if third party interference; extensions etc are not loaded in safe boot mode.

—Test issue in another user (or guest user) account Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac - Apple Support

This will tell you if it a universal issue or isolated to your user/admin account.

In the f̶i̶r̶s̶t̶ article posted the wording is a little more clear:

Keep your Mac notebook within acceptable operating temperatures - Apple Support

"Use your Mac notebook where the ambient temperature is between 50° and 95° F (10° and 35° C). "

those are not CPU/GPU temps they are temperature conditions...in which you are operating

Operating Requirements

  • Line voltage: 100V to 240V AC
  • Frequency: 50Hz to 60Hz
  • Operating temperature: 50° to 95° F (10° to 35° C)
  • Storage temperature: -13° to 113° F (-25° to 45° C)
  • Relative humidity: 0% to 90% noncondensing
  • Operating altitude: tested up to 10,000 feet
  • Maximum storage altitude: 15,000 feet
  • Maximum shipping altitude: 35,000 feet
