Do you want to save selected photos or the complete Photos Library?

  • To save selected photos on a USB thumbs drive, open Photos on your Mac, then select the photos you want to save. Then use the command "File > Export > Export ... photos. In the export dialog panel click the ^ to the right of "Photo Kind: JPEG" to select the format and the quality of the exported photos. Make sure the quality is set high and the size to original size. This will export the edited versions with the adjustments applied. You may want to archive the unmodified originals as well with "File > Export > Export unmodified originals".
  • To save the complete Photos Library see: Move your Photos library to save space on your Mac - Apple Support. But then you should use an external disk, not a memory stick.
