How to get the languge flag in the menu bar on OS X Monterey?

Just updated to the latest Mac OS - Monterey - and it seems that the little flags that show what keyboard is actibe and have been replaced by little squares that say [GB], [US], [FR]. etc.

The flags were so much clearer than the new icons - please - how do I get the flags back?
