Mac Book Pro screen small when mirrored to HD Display after updating to MacOs BigSur 11.6.6

I have tried everything on this forum without success, I had no issues prior to the update. Any ideas? Appreciate your help.

A 1080 display has a 16:9 aspect ratio.

The Retina display has a 16:10 aspect ratio.

So basic geometry shows that if you fill the HD display, a similar rectangle will appear “letterboxed” in the Retina display. That much is therefore to be expected.

On the other hand a rectangle with 16:10 scaled to appear inside an HD display will appear “pillarboxed” - ie leaving space on the sides.

So the part about not filling one of the screens is as it should be and always has been. That didn’t change with 11.6.6. It is basic geometry.

The one part where you have some control iis on the text size/display resolution. Besides optimized for one of the two displays, there must be some “scaled” options you can experiment with.
