Does anyone have any iOS 15.5 bugs?

I have an iPhone XS Max. I’ve had it for years. WAS very happy with it until iOS 15.4.1. I experienced severe battery drain with this update. Before the update I had never seen the battery go into less than 20%, after the update I was constantly tethered to a charger (an apple charger of course, no other brand would work, naturally).

I then updated to iOS 15.5. Battery is still rubbish but I’d say not as catastrophic. Animations seem to be a little clunky but the biggest issue is that the update seems to have entirely disabled the proximity or ambient light sensor in the phone. When I wake the phone in a bright environment the screen brightness is very low, hence I am unable to see the screen display, also dictation no longer works which I assume is down to the same issue. The phone listens but doesn’t dictate anything.

So yeah, thanks again Apple. Is it just me who’s fed up with this year after year?

Hey MattBffhhfd,

It's important that your iPhone work as expected! For the issue you're having with Dictation, toggle that setting off, restart your iPhone, then turn it back on to see if fresh connections all around help. To turn that setting off, tap Settings > General > Keyboard, then scroll down to turn the feature off. Here are some guides with more information, just in case:

For the issue you're having with the ambient light sensor, these steps may help:

Take care!

I agree. It is important that my iPhone works as expected. Apple has a great burden when releasing an iOS update. Yet I never experience such catastrophic bugs with my Samsung. Odd.

Ok. So, no settings have been adjusted. The phone has simply been updated. That’s it. Nothing else has changed. It hasn’t been dropped, submerged in water, sent to the moon and back, just updated.

Dictation is now working. Started again of its own accord. Ambient light sensor still doesn’t seem to be working as the screen now comes on virtually at full brightness regardless of exterior light.

New development, the iPhone decided to restart itself while at the gym this morning (so I lost all of my workout data for that particular workout 👍, nice one), and proceeded to tell me that there is now an issue with Face ID 😍😍 and has rendered it unusable.

So again, no issues with phone ever, last two updates endless issues and pitiful battery life.

Thanks but I’ve just ordered an Galaxy Z Fold 3. A reliable company which doesn’t just destroy your phone that you pay hundreds of pounds for just because it decides your phone is now obsolete.
