Siri no longer unlocks my iPhone automatically

Ever since I upgraded to iOS 15+ I have to ask Siri twice the same question before it decides to prompt me to face ID and unlock my iPhone.

When I say, for instance, 'Siri open this app' the first time, Siri says 'you'll have to unlock your iPhone first' and face ID doesn't come up.

I have to ask Siri again the same and then Siri says 'you'll have to unlock...' and face ID comes up and Siri does what I asked.

Is there a way to make it so the face ID prompt comes up the first time?
