iPhotos not working after installing Monteray on Macbook Pro 2016 and cannot find how to change to Photos

I installed Monteray on my Macbook Pro 2016 and now iPhotos doesn't work and it tells me to change to Photos but I can see nowhere how to do that! Please help, i find Apple's interface with its programs incrediby opaque!

iPhoto was discontinued 7 years ago. It is no longer developed or sold. It was replaced by the more powerful (and free) Photos.app that comes with the OS. You can migrate to that app very simply:


Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch Photos. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and point at your iPhoto Library. It will do the rest.


If you prefer not to use Photos there are several 3rd party apps that you can use. Which to choose depends on the kind of photographer you are and your budget.

The Photos.app is already installed as a part of the System. It should appear in the Dock or in the Applications folder. You will recognize it by the icon with the flower colored like a rainbow. The name of the Photos.app is different for each system language, but the icon will stay the same, independent of the system language.
