New Apple Watch Series 7 software update drains battery when not in use

Hi,

I just updated my Apple Watch Series 7 a couple days ago to the new software update: v8.6 (19T572).

And I realized after the software update, the Series 7 often awake by itself and the screen is not turning off to preserve battery. It always stuck at the PIN window (I set a PIN to unlock it) and never turns off automatically again…

So by morning, the Series 7 battery usually left only by a quarter of its full capacity.

What’s wrong? What can I do to remedy this?

Is there some kind of settings that I should check and change?

FYI the Series 7’s max battery capacity is still 100% as shown in its Battery status, so it’s not a battery issue.

Hi andy js,

With your Apple Watch not dimming the screen as expected, first start by restarting watch. Go to Watch app on your iPhone. Settings > Display & Brightness. See if Always On is enabled and if Wake on Wrist Raise is also enabled. Disable either of those settings one at a time and check for this ongoing behavior.
